Noah curses CANAAN

 

Genesis 9:18

King James Version

18 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, 

were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: 

and Ham is the father of Canaan.

It's a curious thing.

Why Noah cursed Canaan.

When it was Canaan's father, Ham, who transgressed.

This is the incident which happened:

Genesis 9:20-24

King James Version

20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, 

and he planted a vineyard:

21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; 

and he was uncovered within his tent.

22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, 

saw the nakedness of his father, 

and told his two brethren without.

23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, 

and laid it upon both their shoulders, 

and went backward, 

and covered the nakedness of their father; 

and their faces were backward, 

and they saw not their father's nakedness.

24 And Noah awoke from his wine, 

and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

Ham's transgression must have been extremely serious.

For Noah cursed Canaan, Ham's son:

Genesis 9:25-27

King James Version

25 And he said, 

Cursed be Canaan; 

a servant of servants shall he be 

unto his brethren.

26 And he said, 

Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; 

and Canaan shall be his servant.

27 God shall enlarge Japheth, 

and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; 

and Canaan shall be his servant.

That changed the life, lineage, and country of Canaan forever.

To better understand this, we look deeper into what this transgression may have been.

We look to TWO sets of verses for clues:

Genesis 9:22

King James Version

22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, 

saw the nakedness of his father, 

and told his two brethren without.

(What does "saw the nakedness of his father" mean?)

Genesis 9:24

King James Version

24 And Noah awoke from his wine, 

and knew what his younger son 

had done unto him.

(What did Ham do to Noah?)

Somehow, we got clues from Wikipedia*, with the telling verse:

Leviticus 20:11

Expanded Bible

11 If a man ·has sexual relations [L lies] 

with his father’s wife, 

·he has shamed 

[L exposing/revealing the nakedness of] his father, 

and both the man and his father’s wife must be put to death. 

They have brought ·it [L blood] on themselves 

[18:8; Deut. 22:30].

Following the thread of verses, we gather:

Leviticus 18:8

King James Version

8 The nakedness of thy father's wife 

shalt thou not uncover: 

it is thy father's nakedness.

Deuteronomy 22:30

King James Version

30 A man shall not take his father's wife, 

nor discover his father's skirt.

That source suggested that Ham may have had relations* with his father's wife, thus, he "saw the nakedness of his father".

Who was Noah's wife?

This is all the Bible mentions:

Genesis 7:5-7

King James Version

5 And Noah did according 

unto all that the Lord commanded him.

6 And Noah was six hundred years old 

when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, 

and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, 

because of the waters of the flood.

It was further suggested that if this illicit union produced a child, then Canaan must have been that child.

Other researchers suggest Ham may have literally looked* upon the nakedness of his father, while Shem and Japheth avoided looking.

To make matters worse, Ham may have gossiped, or mocked, about it with his brothers.

I'm no scholar, merely following the threads SPIRIT leads me to explore.

My aim is to understand why Canaan, and the country named after him, has been cursed throughout, starting with Noah.

In a future post, we shall look into why GOD abhors the nations connected with Canaan.

That will be for a very interesting post.

Just so you know, Noah lived this long:

Genesis 9:28-29

King James Version

28 And Noah lived after the flood 

three hundred and fifty years.

29 And all the days of Noah 

were nine hundred and fifty years: 

and he died.

GENERATIONS from ADAM

 

Genesis 5:1

King James Version

5 This is the book of the generations of Adam. 

In the day that God created man, 

in the likeness of God made he him;

Adam was the first man.

The Book of Genesis was clear on that.

After Adam, who were his children with Eve?

How old was he when he had his first child?

Again, Scripture's clear on that.

Such is GOD's book -- clear as His light of day:

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:

4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

Genesis 5:6-8

6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:

7 And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters:

28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:

29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.

30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:

31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

Genesis 5:32

32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Able to digest all that?

Notice how Noah is the ninth generation.

In each generation, only ONE son was born.

With Noah, he had THREE sons -- Shem, Ham, and Japeth.

Very interesting, isn't it?

How the Bible's so detailed.

So pure, perfect, and precise.

Because it is of GOD.

 Job 1:21

It's time to know GOD's TRUTH.

How GOD created us.

Despite the world's claims.

That we came from apes.

And all such nonsense.

Let GOD's Genesis speak:

over the fish of the sea,

Was that really so hard to understand?

Was that so hard to accept?

Was that so hard to visualize?

Any child would love such a story.

It's entirely believable.

For it's real.

Only the proud, and hardhearted, refuse to learn.

They think they know better.

GOD always humbles such braggarts.

For myself, I learn fast because GOD made me born again.

After which, He anointed me with His SPIRIT.

That I may get things right.

GOD knew I was going to share my discoveries with you.

As such, I had to be taught by His SPIRIT.

Now that SPIRIT taught me, how can I keep it to myself?

I couldn't wait to share with you my discoveries.

That's why we have 96 blogs already, phew...

Did he have children?

Who were they?

Man's WRONG thinking

 

Psalm 24:1

King James Version

24 The earth is the Lord's, 

and the fulness thereof; 

the world, and they that dwell therein.

How man has wronged GOD.

How GOD loves us, no matter how we've wronged Him.

What wrong am I talking about?

The claim that we came from apes.

That we descended from apes.

That our genetic makeup is akin to apes.

But it is to be expected of man, for this world is not of GOD.

John 8:47

King James Version

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: 

ye therefore hear them not, 

because ye are not of God.

Man would rather listen to the world.

Despite warnings from Scripture:

Luke 16:15

15 And he said unto them, 

Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; 

but God knoweth your hearts: 

for that which is highly esteemed among men 

is abomination in the sight of God.

Romans 12:2

2 And be not conformed to this world:

The Book of Genesis will correct us all.

And remind us Who the Creator is.

And HOW we were created.

SCRIPTURE as AUTHORITY

 

Psalm 1:1-2

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; 

and in his law doth he meditate 

day and night.

What makes the Bible the authority on GOD?

A born again would know.

For we are taught by SPIRIT.

Unless, and until, we have SPIRIT in us, we won't understand Scripture.

Much less give the honor and devotion due it.

But we are born again, so we can tell you what SPIRIT taught us.

On why we can trust Scripture to be the WORD of GOD.

As born again, I stand by the INTEGRITY of the BIBLE:

Psalm 33:4

4 For the word of the Lord is right; 

and all his works are done in truth.

Psalm 33:8-9

8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: 

let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

By now, we know these things:

What makes SPIRIT the authority.

What makes SCRIPTURE the authority.

I listen to them, and learn from them, night and day.

But why doesn't the world listen to GOD's TRUTH?

SPIRIT as AUTHORITY

 

John 4:24

King James Version

24 God is a Spirit: 

and they that worship him 

must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Before we go any deeper into this blog, I want you to know one thing.

The HOLY SPIRIT teaches me.

He guides me, EVERY step of the way.

For EVERY thought, EVERY idea, EVERY blog, EVERY post.

He supplies the verses, and explains the verses, by leading me to more verses.

He is HEAD of organization.

He is PURE, PERFECT, and PRECISE.

Where in the world can you find such a Teacher?

Only through the love of GOD.

Only through the promise of JESUS.

Because SPIRIT completes the Triune GOD.

Everything is of the SPIRIT.

It is the SPIRIT of GOD that gives clarity to everything.

Only by being born again did I come to all this knowledge.

Without SPIRIT, I'd be totally lost.

Not knowing where to uncover the myriad treasures from the Bible.

Not knowing what to write, or what to share with you.

We cannot unravel truth by ourselves.

That is how the world deceives itself.

If you want ABSOLUTE truth, you need the ABSOLUTE Teacher.

That's SPIRIT.

We all need His anointing.

1 John 2:27

King James Version

27 But the anointing 

which ye have received of him abideth in you, 

and ye need not that any man teach you: 

but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, 

and is truth, and is no lie, 

and even as it hath taught you, 

ye shall abide in him.

Only through SPIRIT can we know Scripture.

Only through SPIRIT can we know JESUS.

The LORD tells us that Himself.

John 14:26

King James Version

26 But the Comforter, 

which is the Holy Ghost, 

whom the Father will send in my name, 

he shall teach you all things, 

and bring all things to your remembrance, 

whatsoever I have said unto you.

We need SPIRIT for discernment.

1 Corinthians 2:14

King James Version

14 But the natural man receiveth not 

the things of the Spirit of God: 

for they are foolishness unto him: 

neither can he know them, 

because they are spiritually discerned.

SPIRIT is a wonderful Teacher.

He makes things easy, especially for a childlike heart.

The kingdom of heaven opens to such a heart.

That's why JESUS commands we be "as little children":

Matthew 18:3

3 And said, Verily I say unto you, 

Except ye be converted, 

and become as little children, 

ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Everything on this blog comes from SPIRIT.

I have been taught four years, non-stop.

There are so many Bible discoveries.

I can't create blogs fast enough.

Only because I'm a human vehicle delivering SPIRITUAL truth.

I must be on my spiritual toes all the time.

We maintain that the Bible is the authority on GOD's truth.

Man's BEGINNINGS

 

Isaiah 9:2

King James Version

2 The people that walked in darkness 

have seen a great light: 

they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, 

upon them hath the light shined.

We will find, that we are all brothers and sisters.

Why the cruelty to each other?

This 96th blog will show you we all came from GOD.

Every article SPIRIT guides me to, will reveal our origins.

Never again will we look disdainfully upon another.

To know where we're going, we need to know where we've come from.

For that, we turn to the Bible.

Was there any other worthwhile source?

Only the Bible can reveal truth.

It's important we look to our roots.

Especially our spiritual roots.

We're not just fruits, and branches, dangling aimlessly.

We all came from someone, or somewhere.

Won't you want to know how it all began?

We can't go forward, unless we look to where we came from.

We can't have peace, unless we've come to some realizations.

SPIRIT, and Scripture, are here to correct us.

We take this an article at a time.

I follow the threads SPIRIT leads me to.

It's the only way, for there's so much material.

This is an ever-evolving blog, so please bear with me.

I only write what is humanly possible in a day's time.

As of this writing, we've managed 13 articles in two days.

I'm no scholar, mind you.

I'm just a devoted child of GOD.

Someone GOD appointed to write.

In the simplest, clearest, most childlike manner.

With no thought of accolade, or personal gain.

The greatest joy is sharing my discoveries with you.
